The end of Blogger?

Brian November 29th, 2005

WordPress continues to out do itself. This new blogger-like service (WordPress.com) is amazing. Why would anyone prefer Blogger over Wordpress?

I suppose the only people that will stay with Blogger now are those that have built up a lot of links to their .blogspot.com URLs or are traditionalists. The only thing they really had going for them was the price.

After a few months of using Blogger, I jumped on the WordPress train as fast as I could. Now one can have WordPress for free.

The WordPress.com admin interface is really close to the normal WordPress and only missing a few features.

This will probably be the end of Blogger as we know it.

Google RSS Reader

Brian October 7th, 2005

Are you tired of Bloglines? Need a good web-based RSS Reader?

If you answered yes, then you may want to check out Google’s new RSS reader.

It looks cool, but I am going stick with Bloglines until I have more time to check it out.

Blogging to Fame

Brian May 23rd, 2005

A lot of non-bloggers wonder why bloggers even bother. I get ask that from time to time. Wildwriter points avid readers to a site called “59Bloggers.com” which will be making a “blogumentary about 59 bloggers who represent the Blogosphere.”

Check that out and enter your blog if you are interested in blogging to fame. If they make one called “59,000Bloggers”, I might enter mine.

Picasa 2

Brian January 29th, 2005

I know I am starting to sound like I work for Google or something, but this new Picasa 2 is too great not to mention. After having it installed for less than an hour, I started uninstalling my four or five other photo related programs.

Forget all the nice search and organization features it has. The photo editing feature makes it worth the download and installation. It seems like a “must have” for any digital camera user.

Do I sound impressed? If not, take my word for it - I am.

Keeping up

Brian October 6th, 2004

Tonight, in a continued effort to stay on the cutting edge of “Bloglogy” I signed up for an account with HaloScan. I added the comments/trackback to my template and was well on my way. However, because of having the two words (comment and trackback) instead of the one, it pushed the email icon down to a second line. Such disarray was unacceptable to someone as anal as I am.

Thus, I had to remove HaloScan and revert back to good ole Blogger. Besides, I was not seeing any immediate advantages and I couldn’t figure out anyway to preserve my old comments. So, I guess until I can do some more research on it, I will stick with what I’ve got. Something tells me there has to be some major advantages to using their service since so many other people are using them for Comments.
