State of the Union Response

Brian January 19th, 2006

The national Democratic Party is apparently starting to “get it.” I have always had my doubts about having Howard Dean as the leader. The latest news that Governor Kaine will deliver the State of the Union response, though, is very encouraging to me.

Via the WaPo, the Democratic leaders had this to say about Kaine:

Throughout his career in public service, Governor Kaine has been a champion for working families, putting their priorities above the needs of the special interests,” the statement said. “The success of his positive message in Virginia is indicative of the resonance of Democratic values with the American people.

Sources close to Kaine later said that the theme of the Democratic response will deal largely with the ongoing corruption within the Republican party.

To be honest, I have always been hit or miss on watching the response. Mainly because it’s usually very poor. I am looking forward to Kaine changing my impressions of the response.

Kaine has a title, but no accomplishments. Really, what did he do for 4 years as LG? I can’t think of a single thing. The Dems have such a weak bench. How sad.

T: Come on, now. The Warner-Kaine Administration was ranked the best in the country.

I think its great for Virginia, Governor Kaine, and presidential contender Mark Warner.

I will give credit to Warner/Kaine for the way they handled money issues, which I thought was responsible governing. But their remarkable callousness toward the unborn makes the other accomplishments moot.
