Independents in the Third District

Two more candidates, in addition to Dan Bowling (D) and Shea Cook (R), have filed to run for the Third District House of Delegates seat.
Voter registrars in Buchanan, Tazewell and Russell counties worked to meet the Friday deadline to certify petition signatures and other paperwork with the State Board of Elections for candidates seeking the Third District House of Delegates seat that Stump, a Democrat, held for 16 years.
Jerry Elkins, a Buchanan Countian, was filing his paperwork at 4:30 p.m. in Grundy at the voter registrar’s office.

Russell County resident Brian Wright, who works as downtown coordinator for Richlands, filed his paperwork for ballot inclusion Friday afternoon in Lebanon and was certified as a candidate.
No word yet on whether these guys being in will hurt Bowling or Cook more. Obviously, I am hoping both Elkins and Wright are former Republicans.
