I am not sure about the free Wordpress service, but when I changed over to the stand alone I was able to import all of my old blogger posts. Although I had a lot less than the Yota of SWVA Blogging. :)

For blogs with more than 100 inbound links, or people who just don't aren't interested in recreating their sidebar, probably won't move. But new bloggers will want Word Press.
